Tottenham Hotspurs goalkeeper, Joshua Oluwayemi is delighted to be invited by the Nigeria Football Federation for the friendly match against Mexico.
Oluwayemi was handed a late call-up to the squad as a replacement for Heartland FC goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa who was dropped after picking up an injury in training.
The 20-year-old has since joined up with the squad in Los Angeles and he’s expected to compete with John Noble and Stanley Nwabali for the starting shirt.
luwayemi, who was born in England to Nigerian parents, started his football career in a local academy in London. He signed a new deal with Tottenham Hotspurs last summer and was promoted to the first team by former boss Jose Mourinho.
Before switching allegiance to Nigeria, the 20-year-old featured for England at the U13 and U17 levels.
